Lead a better coalition with the Coalition Coaches

Yes! Send me practical tips every  week to help my coalition succeed.

Our Mission is Simple.

We equip and catalyze coalitions to positively impact health and society

Meet The Coalition Coaches

Jennifer Redmond Knight, DrPH

Since 2003, I have been part of developing, leading, maintaining and sustaining coalitions. I wholeheartedly believe that if we have a complicated health or societal challenge, the best way to make an impact is to catalyze people to work together to find collaborative solutions. I also recognize that actually getting people to work together well can be incredibly challenging and requires proactive, positive and persistent strategies. In 2011, I began consulting, particularly focused on facilitating statewide strategic planning efforts.

In 2017, I decided that coalition leaders needed more support and practical guidance than simply saying “build a partnership” or “start a coalition” so I started a blog, website, tools and templates. As part of this effort, I developed a framework, the Coalition Catalyst™ – a practical system (and online course) for coalitions to assess their membership strengths and weaknesses, set clear purposes with realistic expectations, and engage meaningfully with their members to sustain long-term success.

In 2024, I transitioned from “me” to “we” and am now serving as CEO for the Coalition Coaches, and in 2025 I became a certified CliftonStrengthsⓇ coach knowing that if we all work in our areas of strength, everyone wins.  Alongside Christi Cahill and Elizabeth Holstclaw, we are providing authentic, engaging and practical guidance coalitions need to succeed in this ever-changing environment. I invite you to come along on the journey, and to achieve more. Together.

Christi Cahill

I’m Christi Cahill.  I’ve dedicated my professional career to working with cancer-related nonprofits and organizations. I’m a Principal Consultant at The Coalition Coaches and have been working with coalitions for over 19 years. I’ve worked as a program director, public health consultant, convener, and facilitator. Prior to consulting, I led and facilitated the Colorado Cancer Coalition for 7 years. Three of those as the Executive Director.

My specialization is in convening partners and providing coalition capacity building to ensure greater public health outcomes. I have expertise in strategic planning, partnership building, systems creation, capacity building, and program management. I received a B.A. in Kinesiology from Rice University in Houston, TX. I live in Golden, Colorado with my 3 kids and husband. Outside of coalition work, you can find me at kickboxing or watching my kids play sports.

Elizabeth Holtsclaw, MA

I’m Elizabeth Holtsclaw and the other Principal Consultant with The Coalition Coaches. This coalition work is a culmination of over 25 year career specializing in oncology and immunization health systems. I got a Master’s Degree from the University of Chicago from the School of Social Service Administration with a specialization and certificate from the Graduate Program in Health Administration and Policy. Since then I’ve worked in a health department in the flu vaccine program, a trauma center in Chicago, academic research, and for a national non-profit working with health systems to improve cancer screening and prevention.

My strengths and training includes; facilitation, motivational interviewing, learning collaborative development & being a big picture thinker and dreamer.

I live in Louisville, KY with my husband and children, where we landed after living in 6 different states. I’m originally from western NY and miss summers there. Outside of coalition work I love to dance, be in nature, play around with all different kinds of creative expression and I volunteer with an animal shelter.

What Makes Us Unique?

Active Listeners

We meet the coalition where they are, listen closely and tailor our efforts to the coalition needs and are not bound by other organizational goals/funder expectations.

Practical Experience

We have extensive combined experience leading public health coalitions – and have served in many coalition roles. Applying what we have learned as coalition leaders, coalition members, national and local non-profit staff, public health department employees, educators, researchers, caregivers, and community volunteers to guide coalitions toward success.

Fun & Enjoyable

We make the work of working with a coalition fun and enjoyable. We empower you to create a coalition where people want to show up and meaningfully engage.

Who We Work With

Coalition
Leaders

You may be brand new to coalition building or have been leading coalitions for a long time and are needing some new ideas. You are convening a coalition with limited time and resources. Although you are excited about what is possible when you work together, you are struggling with actually getting people to work together.

Nonprofit
Leaders

You believe in your mission and are ready to change the world. Board engagement is one of your top priorities. You may have a very small staff and are trying to figure out what is realistic or you may have a large staff and are trying to balance competing priorities.

Volunteer
Coordinators

You are responsible for nurturing busy volunteers in a meaningful way. When you talk with volunteers, they are excited about participating but struggle with following through.  You may be working in a church setting or in a community-based organization.
