Coalition Spotlight Conversation: Outreach and Partnership Building

We were lucky to be joined by Dr. Lisa Richardson last week. She shared her perspective on authentic outreach and partnership building in coalition work.

• Can We Talk (https://projectbatjackson.org/start-a-conversation/). Intervention created by Black/African American residents of Jackson, MS to help people stop smoking.
• Culture of Health Prize from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. There are some wonderful examples of bringing all parts of the community together for health. This prize brings the great work happening out there that others can learn from.

• The last project she worked on for DCPC was with the Association of State and Territorial Health Officers (ASTHO). The main lesson she took from the work is that people from the community have the best knowledge about their communities and are the messengers that we have to rely upon.
